The Nutrition and Wellness classes took a break from their normal work week to have a Friday lab. As their “Thanksgiving Treat”, they started their pie lab on Nov. 19. “My favorite part will be eating it,” sophomore Ben Doffing said. Both classes split into groups of three that each did a different pie recipe. Each group member made their own individual small pies. After they got their recipes, they handed out jobs, from rolling the dough to cleaning the utensils. “My job was making the pie filling,” junior Olga Diaz said. Their recipes included Dutch Apple Pie to Classic Cherry Pie. On Friday, they made the crust and baked it. Then, on Monday, they filled their pie and put the top on. On Tuesday, they got to eat their homemade pies. “The hardest part to make was probably the crust,” sophomore Ashlyn Lefebvre said. Photos by Rachel Stuhlsatz. |
