Scholars Bowl begins the season

Scholars Bowl has been preparing for the upcoming season since early September. Members practice on Tuesdays at 7:15 a.m. in Mrs. Pauly’s room and on Wednesdays in the middle school library after school. Meets start in October and go through February.

This year, Scholars Bowl consists of 20 students:

    • Cooper Boyles,

    • Audrey Doffing,

    • Nathan Ohl

    • and Molly Schmanke;

  • and freshmen

    • Gavin Beesley,

    • Luke Bellar,

    • Austin Doffing,

    • Wyatt Schulte,

    • Amy Zoglmann

    • and Neal Zoglmann.

JV had their first meet at Maize South on Oct. 19.

“We did pretty good,” Schmanke said. “Our team made it to finals so that was exciting.”

The first varsity meet is scheduled for Nov. 1 at Wichita Independent. It begins at 4 p.m.

”I expect this season to be interesting for varsity,” sponsor and business teacher Connie Pauly said. “We had lost a lot of seniors from last year, so it will be interesting and exciting to see how we do this year.”

The members are anticipating a successful season.

“This year I feel that we’ll get more history and random questions,” junior Caylee Harrington said. “Overall I think we will do good this year.”

After school on Wednesdays, scholars bowl practices in the Middle School library. Juniors Jera Wolke and Caylee Harrington and sophomores Nathan Ohl and Cooper Boyles are discussing the next question.
