The Homecoming ceremony was Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. before the varsity Douglass football game. Nominees were seniors Grant Mooneyham and Bre Akiu, Gunnar Denney and Annie Robinson, Josh Dugan and Janae Pauly, and Jacob Winter, and Erica Ebenkamp.

Every class participated in a medallion hunt, spirit week and a pep assembly leading up to the crowning. The students voted on candidates Thursday, Sept. 15, during their English hour. The candidates were curious to find out who was king and queen.

“I don’t really care, but if I did win, that would be cool,” said Winter.

Senior Sam Koch was the announcer during the ceremony.

After the candidates were announced walking to their positions, the  winners were announced. Last year’s king and queen, Wyatt Botkin and Kristen Hilger, crowned Mooneyham and Akiu as this year’s winners.

“It was really surprising, but I was really happy,” Akiu said.

After the winners were announced, the cheer and dance members released balloons, and the game began.

“I feel honored that so many people think of me,” Mooneyham said.
