Deciding the future

Deciding which college you will attend can be hard, but the Futures Fair introduces you to many local and out of state colleges. The Futures Fair is an opportunity to talk to more than 100 colleges about their campuses, majors, classes, and student life. This year’s event was at Koch Arena on the Wichita State University Campus in Wichita. A number of juniors and seniors, totaling 48, from Conway Springs went Oct. 7 to the event.

“It’s a great place to get answers and feedback quickly from colleges,” counselor Louise Ronnau said.

Junior Carrie Trifiletti said she would recommend for underclassmen to go because going would help them talk to the people they need to to figure out their futures. Representatives were available from state colleges, community colleges, proprietary schools, military, and technical colleges from states including Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Missouri. The tables were set up all around Koch Arena. Attendees could pick up information about the institution, scholarships and financial aid.

“(The fair) went pretty good, (but it was) not what I thought it was going to be,” junior Mason Misak said.
