As the Christmas season approaches, so do school concerts. The annual Cardinalaires BPW concert is the first concert of the season. The concert will be Dec. 1, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Conway Springs United Methodist Church. Cardinalaires began preparing for BPW immediately after Fall Fest. As a group, they are singing “30 Second Fa-la-la”, “The First Noel/Pachelbel’s Canon”, and “Holiday Road”. The girls are singing “Wintery Lullaby” and the boys, “Children Go Where I Send Thee”. All seniors will be performing solos between songs. “My favorite song is ‘Holiday Road’ because it’s very upbeat and exciting,” freshman Gavin Beesley said. As the concert quickly approaches, members are starting to feel the pressure. Vocal music director Stephanie Downey recently came back from maternity leave, so members have had to memorize songs and choreography not just during their regular morning practices, but on their own time as well. “I’m nervous about still learning the songs and dances and about not forgetting my part,” freshman Cierra Hiser said. Sophomore returning member Leslie Mies is confident the concert will still turn out okay. “We’ve got some interesting songs we’re singing, so I think it will be fine,” Mies said.
