Clash of the Cardinals is going to wrap up on Friday, Oct. 21 at Cheney. Kickoff for the football game starts at 7 p.m., and they will announce the winner at halftime. Can collecting started Oct. 16 and goes through the end of the first quarter of the game.

In the past, can collecting at the high school has been a class competition, but this year, the district has set a goal of 5,500 cans, and if the district reaches that goal, superintendent Clay Murphy will grant an early dismissal day. The district goal cutoff will be Oct. 20 at 8:15 p.m.. Hired Man’s will have its annual “Cram the Van” event Oct. 21 from  4:30-6:30 p.m., where people can get a hamburger or hot dog meal if they donate cans or money.

“I think Clash of the Cardinals is a great idea because it helps out the people who need food and supplies,” freshman Kara Koester said.
