On Nov. 11, FCCLA assisted Wichita’s Habitat for Humanity organization. Seniors Bre Akiu, Donovan Mercer and Tabitha Stuhlsatz and sophomore Cassidy Oswald, and FCCLA sponsor and Family and Consumer Science teacher Nancy Julius attended this event. While they were there, they helped families in need with building and cleaning up the Habitat Village that they call the “Brush of Kindness.” Habitat for Humanity initially provides lower income families with resources and supplies to help build their future homes with “sweat equity.” They not only build their own homes but also volunteer to help build others’ homes too. “It was a really cool experience,” Akiu said. “We got to learn a lot of new things.” |
