As the school year wraps up, the Cardinalaires have invited a few new members for next year. The tryouts for Cardinalaires were held April 22 in the music room with music teacher Ellen Kerr.

When a student entered the music room to try out, Mrs. Kerr would say their name to the three judges and then have them sing the voice part they were trying out for from “How Great Thou Art”. Then the student would sight sing a few notes, which were displayed on the projector, and then sing “My Country Tis of Thee”.

“I like the enthusiasm of next year’s Cardinalaire members,” Mrs. Kerr said. “They are  excited to be in the group.”

All of those who auditioned for the Cardinalaires this year made it. Current sophomores Sheilah Lange, Michelle Willson, Hannah Ray, and Addie Jenkins were among them, as well as incoming freshmen Rachel Stuhlsatz, Lawrence Pauly, Leslie Mies, Maddie Koester, Leah Reep and Brandon Doll.

“I decided to try out for Cardinalaires because I like to sing,” Lange said.

Junior Hanah Jones will be one of the returning Cardinalaires to perform in next year’s group. Jones will be heading into her fourth year.

“My goals for next year are to get a 1 on our group, girls, and boys songs,” Jones said.

The Cardinalaires will also be getting new dresses and bow ties next year.
