Cardinalaires spread the love

posted Feb 4, 2015, 10:58 AM by Unknown user

Every year the Cardinalaires sell Valentine-themed Singing Telegrams. This year they will deliver the telegrams Feb. 9-14, which is also Homecoming week. There is a choice of four songs to choose from, including: “Unchained Melody”, “When I Grow to Old to Dream”, “My Special Angel”, “I Can’t Help Falling in Love”.

“The songs are pretty good,” sophomore Mathias Doffing said. “I especially like ‘Unchained Melody.’”

Whoever buys the telegram gives an address and a few different times that will work for the recipient of the Valentine. In years past, the Cardinalaires have traveled as far as Argonia and Viola to perform the telegrams. They will also perform the songs over the phone for people who don’t live near enough to sing it in person.

“I am looking forward to the Singing Telegrams this year,” junior Alyssa Davis said. “I’m more in the Valentine’s Day spirit this year.”

Many of the Cardinalaires look forward to the telegrams every year. Senior Cece Robinson thinks it is fun to surprise people with the Valentine-themed songs. According to Robinson, the telegrams can also be delivered during the game on Friday. Anytime before or after school works. In the past, the Cardinalaires have performed them for residents at the nursing home, parents, teachers, staff of the school, students and other family members.

“The Singing Telegrams seem like they will make people happy,” Doffing said.
