Cardinalairies prepare for Fall Fest

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning, singing can be heard from the vocal music room. Cardinalaires has 22 members, which includes freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. The group has 15 girls and seven boys. It is somewhat of a disadvantage of not having as many boys, sophomore Dawson Tarrant said. Music teacher Ellen Kerr helps them learn their songs and practices with them.

“I love to sing,” freshman Katia Wright said. “What I don’t really like is getting up so early in the morning.”

Cardinalaires do several events throughout the year. Some of these include Fall Fest,  Homecoming, the Winter Program, competition, and Cabaret.

They started preparation for Fall Fest right away. The theme this year is Disney, because next year the band and vocal students are taking their trip to Orlando, Fla., to perform at Disney World.

Fall Fest is from Sept. 25-28. Cardinalairies will sing during the parade on Sept. 27, then they will sing in the band shell in the park that afternoon. Some of the songs are from your favorite Disney movies, including “Hercules”, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, “The Lion King”, “101 Dalmatians”, “Toy Story” and “Pocahontas”.

“They are okay, but I prefer the songs we did last year,” Tarrant said, “though this year they are still fun.”
