After four years, Conway Springs High School band, choir, and Cardinalaires will be heading back to Orlando, Fla., to perform at Walt Disney World. The students will be leaving the CSHS parking lot at 1 a.m. on March 9 and driving to Kansas City, Mo. Their plane will be leaving from the Kansas City International Airport. This decision was made because it is cheaper than Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport in Wichita and because they will have no layovers in other cities. “I’ve never flown before,” freshman Rachel Stuhlsatz said. “I’m nervous, but excited.” This year, 65 students are going, accompanied by 12 sponsors. This is the fifth trip that CSHS has taken to Florida. Places the students will be visiting include the beach, Universal Studios, and the Epcot Center. “I’m most looking forward to going to the beach will all my friends,” junior Rachel Echelberry said. The band will be performing seven songs, including “Into the Clouds”, “Devil Dance” “Home on the Range” and themes from the “Wizard of Oz”. The choir and Cardinalaires will be singing together. Songs they will be singing include “Counting Stars”, “Why We Sing”, and “Over the Rainbow” from the “Wizard of Oz” as well. The performances will be March 10. “I’m looking forward to performing for people not from our hometown,” freshman Caden Runnalls said. The students will fly back on March 16.
