New year with new dancers

For 12 girls, 7 and half hours of practice all lead up to only a 20-minute tryout. Dance tryouts were April 15. The dancers spent the week before practicing every day from 5:30 to 7 a.m. The tryouts consisted of a dance, a kickline, two leaps, two turns, a hitch kick, a toe touch and the splits.

“The tryout process is always stressful, and with the expressionless judges, it's hard to tell if you’re doing good or not,” said sophomore Rianna Morris.

The new dancers are eighth graders Kelly Doffing and Amy Zoglmann; freshmen Mackenzie Curry, Audrey Doffing, and Mariah Morris; sophomores Cassie Brozovich, Rianna Morris, and Jera Wolke; and junior Addie Jenkins. The dance coach is Stacy Zoglmann.

“I am super excited for next year's team, and I can't wait to see what we can do,” Brozovich said.

The dancers will have their first performance of the season during the first home football game.  They perform at every home football and basketball game and pep rallies.

“I can't wait to start having fun with a great group of girls,” Jenkins said.
