Scholars Bowl is slowly coming to an end. The league tournament was Jan. 27. This year the host was Medicine Lodge, and Scholars Bowl sponsor Connie Pauly said the team was ready for the huge meet.

“It was interesting,” Mrs. Pauly said. “You never know who the top players from other teams are until league.”

The team was split into varsity and junior varsity. The people competing for varsity were senior Nora Hartman, juniors Anthony Becker, Brandon Koch, John Andra and Wesley Hullinger and sophomore Dennis Zoglmann.

“The competition was tough,” Hullinger said. “Wichita Independent was there.”

The junior varsity team consisted of freshmen Courtnee Wisdom and Makenna Beesley and sophomores Jessica Mies, Lucas Mies, Mary Berntsen and Michelle Willson. The team seemed confident in their abilities.

“I think we have the ability to go all the way this year,” Lucas said.

All the hard work and practice paid off. The varsity squad ended the day second behind Wichita Independent, and the JV placed sixth.
