The varsity Scholars Bowl team members headed out for their last meet before Christmas break on Dec.11. Six students went to the meet: seniors Makenna Beesley, Courtnee Wisdom, and Jera Wolke; juniors Nathan Ohl and Molly Schmanke; and sophomore Amy Zoglmann. The meet was at Sedgwick starting at 4 p.m. With nine teams in each of the two pools, the team struggled in the matches, and did not make it out of their individual pool to tournament play. “We were not specialized in certain areas; we were not overall confident in our answers on Monday,” Wisdom said. Ohl had a team-high 120 points with Beesley following close with 100. “I think I did pretty good individually with 120 points,” Ohl said. Despite good individual performances, the team as a whole was still unhappy with the results. “Really good teams were there beating us to the buzzer,” Zoglmann said “It’s my first year on varsity and I hope we do better as the year goes on.” |
