A heads up for homecoming

posted Feb 16, 2016, 12:57 PM by Unknown user

This year, the basketball homecoming theme is “Oh The Places You’ll Go,” based off the book by Dr. Seuss. Spirit week is Feb. 16-19. The spirit days are Tacky Tourist on Tuesday, so students dress up like the tourists in movies with big cameras and Hawaiian shirts. Wednesday is Dynamic Duo. This can be any famous pair in movies, TV, books or otherwise, from Batman and Robin to Finn and Jake from “Adventure Time”. Thursday is Good vs. Evil. Students can dress in classic black or white or put a spin on it and dress as their favorite good or evil character. Friday is Red and White day to show school pride. Dressing up earns class points for the class competition.

“I am really looking forward to Good vs. Evil day,” senior Madison Francis said.

The wall decorating also follows the theme. Seniors have “The Lorax”, juniors have “Horton Hears a Who”, sophomores “How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Homecoming)”, and freshmen have “The Cat in the Hat”.

For games during AP, this year, student council is switching it up and having the same game two days in a row. The game on Tuesday and Wednesday is “Human Foosball,” and Friday during the pep assembly, the game is a “Red Light, Green Light Dance”.

“I am excited to play Human Foosball,” sophomore Cobe Arredondo said.

Another event is the lip sync during Friday’s AP.  Participants need to make sure their songs are in to junior Zachary Schwarzenberger as soon as possible so he can edit them and get them ready to play.

This year's basketball homecoming game is against Medicine Lodge. The crowning will take place after the boys varsity game, and the dance will follow in the commons area.
