Everyone has hobbies. Sometimes they’re creative or fun, and sometimes they require some real skill. Freshman Austin Vaughan has a hobby of his own that not a lot of people can say they would succeed at.

With precision and patience, Vaughan can put his unique mechanic skills to work taking apart and rebuilding dirt bikes. This is not a project many people could finish on their own.

Even more impressive than the skill itself is that Vaughn started repairing and rebuilding at the age of 7.

“I’m just interested in the bikes and repairing them,” he said.

Being able to keep your own toys running can be beneficial for people who ride regularly. Anyone who rides ATV’s, UTV’s or motorcycles knows the struggle of having to delay a trip or pass up an opportunity to ride because of waiting on repairs.

“The thing I like about it is being able to keep things running,” he said.

Although his hobby and skill are useful, Vaughn said he doesn’t think he will be using his skill for anything more than a hobby in the future.
