Italy

to provide an experience to travel and see another culture

Nothing like a little trip to Italy to get you excited for summer. Principal Brent Harrell, spanish teacher Kirby Kenny, and history teacher Craig Frederick are planning to give the students an opportunity to go to Italy during the summer of 2017. A meeting for the trip was held Jan. 20 for interested students to gather information about what they would be doing.

“I thought it would give the kids a chance to broaden their horizons, learn a new language, and give them an opportunity to travel as a high schooler,” Mr. Harrell said.

Mr. Harrell has had experience with EF Tours, the company that would be helping the group through Italy from his trip to France last year with Wichita Northwest High School students.

“The purpose of this trip is to provide an opportunity to experience a different culture, language, architecture, food, and an experience to travel,” Mrs. Kenny said.

Those interested to go would be traveling through Venice, Florence, Assisi, Vatican City, Rome, and the Sorrento Region. They would leave from Wichita June 6 or 7 and be gone for 10 days. The trip will cost $3,800.

There was a parents meeting Jan. 26 to provide the parents of interested students with information about the trip.

“It would be fun and a once-in-a-lifetime trip,” sophomore Courtnee Wisdom said.

Wisdom said she most wants to see Rome and the Colosseum.
