Conway Springs High School annual senior/faculty games are scheduled for March 8. This tradition dates back as long as senior sponsor Connie Pauly said she can remember. Each year, the girls face the female staff in a game of volleyball, and the boys and the male staff members go head-to-head in a game of basketball. Faculty and staff from all three buildings are welcomed to participate as well as any members of the class of 2016. “I think the senior/faculty games are a great chance to see students, who are not normally involved, step in and have fun,” senior Kristen Hilger said. Students and staff are both getting geared up for the games. The seniors view these last games as a chance to show the teachers what they are made of, after four stressful high school years. Staff and teachers see it as more than just a competition; it’s a farewell game. “It’s a nice time for teachers and students to spend time outside of the classroom,” social studies teacher Craig Frederick said. Anyone in the community is welcome to attend. Volleyball starts at 7 p.m. The cost to watch is a suggested donation of $3, and all proceeds go to the senior trip. Schoolwide, many students said they can not wait to see the seniors and faculty face off one more time before the end of the year. “We live for those moments when a student that is not involved in athletics does something amazing, like make a 3-pointer, and you can just hear the crowd go wild,” Mrs. Pauly said.
