On Jan. 10, CSHS students had a speaker from the Wichita Family Crisis Center come to inform students about dating violence and unhealthy relationships. Dana Kemp, the speaker, focused her presentation on signs of an abusive relationship and ways to get out of it without harm.

“I found this presentation helpful because mainly it gave information about how to maintain healthy relationships and how to avoid unhealthy ones,” freshman Laci Ast said.

Kemp explained many types of different relationship abuse, such as physical, sexual, emotional, economic, and psychological abuse.

“I learned about the different types of mental manipulation and how it is a bad thing,” sophomore Neal Zoglmann said.

As students are getting involved in serious relationships, it is important to know what to avoid in these and how to point out harmful signs.

I realized that a lot of people in the world deal with dating abuse and that it is more than likely that people from our school are going through it too,” sophomore Michayla Buck said.
