The annual Pratt Academic Olympics are rolling back around. There are a total of 52 students from CSHS participating in the Olympics this year.

The event is taking place at Pratt Community College on Feb. 26. Students will test in specific subjects and compete against other schools. The tests are broken into three 50-minute sections beginning at 9:15. The bus and suburbans are leaving at 7:15 a.m and will return back at the school around 3 p.m.

“I look forward to hanging out with friends and doing what I do best in accounting,” sophomore Wyatt Schulte said.

Senior Cassie Brozovich is entering one of her paintings in the art category and a story in news writing, as well as participating on site. Her painting and story are carry-in submissions, which are completed and sent in before the event. Carry-in categories include competitions in creative writing, journalism, photography and art..

“I worked on my painting for about a month and a half, and I look forward to the critiquing of the judges if it is an art teacher,” Brozovich said.

English teacher Kristy Martin organized the submissions and asked teachers to recommend students who excel in their categories. She has been the coordinator of this event for five years.

“It’s important for kids to be recognized in academic success in all categories, not just the main ones,” she said.
