Friends University puts on ‘The Nutcracker’

“The Nutcracker” is a famous ballet written by Tchaikovsky that is being performed at Friends University in Wichita Dec. 11-19.

The ballet was mesmerizing with performers of all ages. It starts with a party and a little girl getting a nutcracker from the magician, who was the kids’ entertainment at the party. When the party is over and it's time for bed, she falls asleep, and the ballet then takes you through the dreams of the little girl when her nutcracker comes to life and fights a giant rat army then shows her around the toy land. They meet amazing people like the Sugar Plum Fairy. He also takes her to the Land of Snow and the Land of Sweets. The play ends with her waking up from her dream and telling her mom all about it.

The ballet had two performers from The Denver Ballet in Colorado. The dances were graceful, and I would love to go back next year. I give “The Nutcracker” five out of five Cardinal heads for their phenomenal rendition of “The Nutcracker”.
