Marvel’s “Daredevil” takes suspense to a whole new level. It is action packed, gruesome, and in general, very dark. The show premiered on Netflix on April 10, 2015. On April 21, Marvel and Netflix announced that a second season will be made, though the second season’s premiere date has not been announced. The show takes place in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. The show mainly revolves around Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who is a vigilante at night, known as the Daredevil. He is desperately trying to save his city from the powerful business man, Wilson Fisk, also known the as the Kingpin. Fisk’s interests lie in Hell’s Kitchen, which causes conflict between Fisk and Murdock. Murdock is played by Charlie Cox, who recently played in “The Theory of Everything” as Jonathan Jones. All superheroes need a support system. Murdock has Foggy Nelson, his lawyer partner; Karen Page, their secretary; and Claire Temple, a nurse who cares for Murdock after his battles. The show has a very appealing cast who capture the true essence of the characters. With how well the show was put together, directed, produced and executed, I think we can all forget the 2003 “Daredevil” starring Ben Affleck. I give the show five out of five Cardinal heads. The show has a darker aspect than other Marvel movies and has some graphic deaths and violence with stronger language, so you should be cautioned before you watch. |
