“City of Heavenly Fire” is the sixth and final book in The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. This book is packed with action, romance and betrayal. It will leave you on the edge of your seat while you read it. I loved this book because it shows you the different sides of what a war truly is and what it makes people do. The prologue begins in Los Angeles when Sebastian Morgenstern, Clary’s sadistic, psychopathic brother breaks into the Los Angeles Institute looking to turn Shadowhunters into Dark Shadowhunters with the help of the Infernal Cup. Only six children survive the attack, and one of the children gets taken away by the Fair Folk. The book starts in New York City with the main characters trying to figure out the problem with Jace, who has heavenly fire burning inside him. Meanwhile, Sebastian is still killing and turning Shadowhunters. The Clave has no idea how to stop him because he cannot be tracked and they do not have a weapon that can kill him. Only Clary, Jace, Simon, Izzy and Alec can stop him. How can they find him if no one else can? The five travel to the Seelie Court to find a road into the demon realm called Edom where Sebastian has been hiding. In there, they face many perils, including demons at every turn and Jace with his heavenly fire. How do they expect to defeat Sebastian who cannot be harmed without the power of the heavenly fire that is still burning inside Jace? I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys supernatural abilities or anyone who likes action and romance. If you really like the shadow hunter series, read The Infernal Devices trilogy, which is a prequel to The Mortal Instruments. I give this book five out of five Cardinal heads. |
