On Friday, Nov. 24, Conway Springs will hold an alumni game for both boys and girls basketball. The alumni games have been going on for almost 10 years. The alumni game helps the players get a feel of playing another team and being on the court before the first game. “I am very excited,” sophomore Joshua Koester said. “It will give us a good look on how we will do during the season.” The night will start with a girls intra-squad scrimmage between the JV and freshman/sophomore teams at 5. The varsity girls will scrimmage against former players of the basketball team at 6. The boys intra-squad scrimmage will begin at 7 and the boys varsity vs. alumni will begin at 7:45. A “young alumni vs. more experienced alumni” game will be at 8:30. “It's good to see old teammates and play against them,” senior Shannon Drouhard said. The girls are coached by head coach Pat Carl and assistant coach Justin Regehr. The boys are coached by head coach Paul Lange and assistant coach Craig Frederick. “It's nice to see good competition and see former players play,” Coach Regehr said. The alumni game is a good opportunity for coaches to get a look at the players and the skills they have. “It's an opportunity for us to face competition for the first time and play against somebody,” Coach Frederick said.
