Spring athletics are in full-throttle and the JV and varsity boys tennis teams have had a busy schedule. On April 8, the varsity team traveled to Goddard and the JV boys played in their first home meet on April 10.

Due to the ACT also on April 8, many varsity players were unable to compete in the Goddard meet, but those who did participate included seniors Lucas Mies and Jacob Winter, junior Jacob Kautz, and freshmen Luke Bellar, Joshua Koester and Peyton Winter.

Koester and Peyton competed in doubles, as well as Mies and Jacob. Both pairs said they have enjoyed playing with each other, and Koester said he is excited to see how the rest of the season goes.

“I like to play with Peyton,” Koester said. “We have a good team connection and play really well together.”

Those who attended the home JV meet were senior Josh Dugan, juniors Trenton Jones, Brenden Pauly, and Colt Shobe, sophomore Zach Mercer and freshman Cody Jones.

Dugan and Trenton played doubles together and placed first at the home meet. Pauly and Shobe also competed in doubles, with Mercer and Cody Jones playing singles.

“The season is going pretty well I think,” Trenton said. “Playing with Josh has been a lot of fun, and he’s a good player.”

The JV team will travel to Pratt on April 21 and the varsity team will compete at home on April 25.

“I’m excited to see how the season plays out”, Pauly said. “I’m remaining optimistic about it.”
