“We haven’t won against Garden Plain in ten years, but I have a lot of faith that this year our team will change that,”  sophomore and varsity player Lacey Pauly said. “All together after the game, I felt like we came out stronger as a team, and next time around we will be ready.”

The Conway Springs Cardinal girls played Jan. 19 against rival Garden Plain Owls. Although the game was lost 39-47 the girls battled well, and their effort showed as they were down and caught up to the Owls 35-35 in the fourth quarter. The girls are 5-1 in League play.

“At the beginning, the team knew it would be a challenge, but during the game we realized that we have the ability to play at the same level as GP, and next time we will conquer the Owls,” freshman Halie Jones said.

The next game against the Garden Plain Owls will be Feb. 5 The JV will start at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity at 6 p.m., in Garden Plain.

“Next time we play Garden Plain, we will be prepared,” junior Bre Akiu said. “We know their offense and will be ready for whatever they throw at us.”
