For their third and last tournament of the season, the JV volleyball team traveled to Chaparral High School Oct. 7. They came home with a win-loss record of 1-2.

They played their first game at 10 a.m. against Andale. Although both matches were hard fought, they came up short in two, with scores of 19-25 and 20-25.

“”None of us were pepped up, and we were all kind of slow,” junior Audrey Doffing said.

The Cardinals took on the Wellington Crusaders in their second game, and once again had small point deficits but could not come out with the win. The final scores were 23-25 and 22-25.

“We have our high points at times, and we play really well,” junior Maddie Koester said, “but when we are off, we just play really bad.”

After two tough losses, the lady Cardinals were able to bounce back in their third game to defeat Kingman, 25-20 and 25-18.

“We went in the locker room and talked about what we needed to fix,” freshman Lizzy Curry said. “Our attitudes changed, and we came out with a lot of energy.”

JV’s final games of the season are Oct. 17 at Trinity. Curry said she believes that throughout the season, the team has improved in multiple areas.

“We’ve became a lot closer as a team,” she said, “and that helps a lot when it comes to playing.”
