Swinging out of Regionals and into State

Regionals tennis was May 5 at South Barber. The players that went were seniors Josh Dugan, Lucas Mies and Jacob Winter; juniors Trenton Jones and Jacob Kautz and freshman Luke Bellar.

“I was anticipating to be in at least top four,” Mies said. “I was hoping for first, but I would have been happy with top four. I think Jacob and I work pretty good together. We have known each other for a long time so there’s a bond.”

Overall, the team placed first, and all players qualified for the State meet on May 12 and 13.

“I want to go in with a good attitude, an open mind, and have fun,” Dugan said. “My partner [Jones] and I do good together. We have a great chemistry.”

Dugan isn’t the only person excited to be going to State. Kautz said he is also very excited to be going.

“I am super excited to be going,” Kautz said. “I am hoping to get first but I don’t know if I will. That would be really great, though, if I did.”
