The tennis team has several girls returning from last year and several new girls excited to join the team. Freshman Jera Wolke said she is excited to learn a new sport and try something different. “Tennis is more fun than I thought it would be,” Wolke said. “I’m excited to play in the meets this year.” This season was supposed to start off with the Red/White Scrimmage Aug. 28, but it got rained out. Some of the girls were disappointed that they couldn’t play in the scrimmage. “It was the last time for the seniors to have the Red/White Scrimmage,” said senior Julie Ann Winter. Although they missed the scrimmage they did come back for practice that night to get prepared for the upcoming week of meets. The varsity squad went to Wellington on Tuesday, Sept. 2 and the Junior Varsity went to South Barber. “Missing the scrimmage had no effect on the girls,” head coach Chris Bellar said. “We had time to come back that night due to dedication.” The girls tennis schedule can be found at the district’s website. |
