As the track season comes to an end, runners, throwers, and jumpers are getting ready for the League track meet. The track team will travel to Medicine Lodge on May 11 and compete against 11 other schools, including Garden Plain, Cheney, Douglass and Trinity Academy.

“I’m excited for the League track meet,” freshman Madison Pauly said. “I want to see if I can break any of my records and place.”

Thirty-seven members will go to Medicine Lodge and compete in events like long jump, discus, the mile and pole vault.

“I think the League meet is helpful for getting ready for Regionals and State,” junior Jera Wolke said, “but it’s just like any other meet; it’s just practice to get better.”

The Regional track meet will be May 19 at Cheney. Those who meet the required time or distance will qualify to go to the State track meet at WSU on May 26-27.

“I think that the girls have a good chance to place in the top three--if everything goes well they could get first,” head track coach Brent Martens said.
